Ingredients:
- One clear jar with a tight lid
- Warm water
- Clear glue or baby oil
- Blue food coloring or non-toxic glow in the dark paint
- Glow in the dark beads, glitter, or sequins
- Small plastic sea creatures
- Optional: Mini aquarium plants or tiny seashells
- UV blacklight flashlight
- Optional: A few drops of glycerin
Directions:
1. Prepare the Base:
Fill the jar with warm water, leaving about one inch of space at the top to avoid spills.
2. Add Clear Glue:
Pour one to two tablespoons of clear glue or baby oil into the jar. Stir gently to mix.
3. Color the Ocean:
Add one or two drops of blue food coloring or glow in the dark paint to the mixture. Stir thoroughly until the water reaches a deep blue color.
4. Add the Magic:
Drop in glow in the dark beads, glitter, sequins, and small plastic sea creatures to create an underwater effect. If you have them, you can also add mini aquarium plants or tiny seashells for extra detail.
5. Seal It Up:
Close the jar tightly to prevent any leaks. Shake it gently to mix everything together.
6. Charge and Glow:
Expose the jar to a UV blacklight or direct sunlight for a few minutes to “charge” the glow-in-the-dark materials. Once done, turn off the lights and enjoy the glowing effect!
Tips & Variations:
1. For a more vibrant glow, use multiple types of glow in the dark materials in different colors to create a more visually interesting ocean scene.
2. You can change the water’s color by experimenting with other food coloring shades, such as green or purple, to better suit your theme. Enjoy your glowing ocean jar!
